Asphalt shingles are the most common steep slope commercial commercial roofing application. They are often the most cost effective roofing solution for a commercial building. Asphalt shingles are designed generally for pitches of 2/12 and above and are therefore not suitable for low slope applications. They come in standard 3-tab, dimensional/architectural and specialty designs. Asphalt shingles come in a multitude of colors.
TPO and PVC
Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) and Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) are forms of thermoplastic roof systems. These are are soft rubber membranes that are reinforced with polyester scrim and are designed for low slope roof applications. They are seamed together using hot air to weld the seams together, providing a monolithic rubber roof system. TPO’s can be installed in a variety of methods including mechanically attaching, fully adhering or ballasting. Mechanically adhering is the most common application. The product can be manufactured in various colors, with the most popular being white.
Modified Bitumen roof systems are designed for use on low slope roofs and flat roofs. These are asphalt based products that are layered with other reinforcing materials such as fiberglass or polyester mash to give additional strength and durability. These can be applied over the top of some existing roofs. The base sheets can be either self-adhering or torched down to provide adhesion to the existing roof structure or surface. The finish material comes in various textures including smooth and granular, as well as different colors.
Reflective coatings are an economical way of repairing your existing commercial roof. These are also very environmentally friendly as well. The coatings are silicon based, highly reflective and impact resistant. These are applied as a single coat with no seams and, as a result, will withstand permanent standing water. By recovering your roof as opposed to removing and replacing it, you will save on the labor to tear off as well as avoiding putting the old materials into a landfill. The reflective nature of the coating will save money on energy cost as most of the suns rays are reflected as opposed to being absorbed by the roof structure of the building.
Metal roofs are available in both standing seam and exposed fastener applications. These can be used on both low slope and steep slope applications. Metal roofs come in a variety of colors and patterns. These roofs have exceptional durability visual appeal.
